Diversity & Inclusion Award Nominations Due Feb. 16


The annual EVC Diversity & Inclusion Award recognizes significant achievements of KUMC faculty, staff, students, residents, departments, units, and registered organizations toward developing and enhancing a more inclusive, diverse and culturally competent university community. Nominees and recipients are leaders in creating a culture and environment, characterized by inclusion and respect, in which the very best education, discovery and healing can take place.  All references to KUMC include the Kansas City, Wichita and Salina campuses.
Nominations for the 2018 EVC Diversity & Inclusion Award will be accepted Jan. 23 - Feb. 16, 2018.  Awards will be conferred at the annual Award Ceremony & Keynote Lecture on April 25, 2018.

History of African Americans in Medicine at KU
January 25, 4:00 – 6:30 p.m., Black Archives of Mid-America in Kansas City, 1722 E 17th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64106
Medical student Tequilla Manning will present her research on several pioneering medical students at KU School of Medicine, followed by a reception and tour of the archives museum located in the 18th and Vine Jazz District.

Summer 1938: Desegregation of the KU School of Medicine, Clendening History of Medicine Exhibit

See the story of Edward V. Williams, ’41, the first African American student to graduate with an MD from KU School of Medicine.
