The EVC Diversity & Inclusion Award recognizes significant achievements of faculty, staff, departments, units, and registered organizations toward developing and enhancing a more culturally diverse, competent and inclusive university community. Nominees and recipients are leaders in creating a culture and environment, characterized by inclusion and respect, in which the very best education, discovery and healing can take place.  All references to KUMC include the Kansas City, Wichita and Salina campuses.

Conference Goal: Leaders in the field will provide insight
into the fundamentals of providing affirming healthcare for
transgender patients.
Conference Objectives:
Participants will be able to:

  • Utilize current terminology relative to gender and the gender spectrum
  • Describe the physical and mental healthcare needs of transgender patients
  • Recognize and describe the legal needs and rights of transgender patients
  • Identify supportive and unsupportive aspects of the transgender patient experience when accessing healthcare

with the Essential Areas and policies of the Missouri
State Medical Association through the joint sponsorship
of the St. Louis STD/HIV Prevention Training Center and
(Midwest Aids Training and Education Center – MO). The
St. Louis STD/HIV Prevention Training Center is accredited
by the MSMA to provide continuing medical education for
physicians.”

“Kansas City CARE Clinic is approved as provider of continuing
nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This
course offering approved for 6.0 contact hours applicable for
RN or LPN re-licensure.
