We acknowledge that many members of the KUMC community have been deeply affected by the recent traumatic deaths of Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, and the police officers in Dallas. There is a tendency to grow numb to this kind of repeated violence, but we cannot lose that which makes us human. We must remain committed to an inclusive campus climate and support each other through these painful events, take time to grieve, and then redouble our efforts toward positive change. In this spirit, we invite you to join us for a panel discussion, Black Lives Matter at KUMC, aimed at addressing these persistent acts of violence and exploring ways to better advocate for the Black community. Together, we will struggle for answers and seek meaningful solutions. Further, we urge you to come together and support each other, and to reach out for help if you need it. Students and residents are encouraged to call Counseling and Educational Support Services at 913-588-6580, and faculty and staff to contact our Employee Assistance Program at 1-888-275-1205 (option 7).
