Safe Zone:
Safe Zone is an educational program that will help educate the KUMC community in creating a safer, more civil community for all individuals, particularly those of sexuality and/or gender minorities (e.g., lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, etc.).  Monthly training sessions available.

Unconscious Bias
Unconscious bias is a natural function of the human mind and we all have it!  Recognizing bias can help us gain more insight into our interpretations, assumptions, evaluations and decision-making processes.  In this course you will increase your understanding about the science and research of unconscious bias, and how it can impact critical decisions and results such as those in the healthcare and education environments.  You will explore your own background and its impact on your perceptions, as well as learn strategies for  practicing more conscious awareness as an individual and as part of a larger organization.  Course offered three (3) times per semester or by request by submitting the form on myKUMC (login required).
